Meet 4-year-old Marko from the Western suburbs of Melbourne. He arrived in Australia 3 months ago as a refugee from Ukraine.
Through our partnership with a local playgroup in his area, we provided a series of bilingual children’s books (in mother tongue and English) to help encourage parent and child reading routines at home daily.
While attending the Read Aloud session at his playgroup, Marko’s mother explained the books were pivotal in assisting Marko to use his imagination and be curious. The books were helping him to heal after relocating to Australia.
